In this post I will do my best to throw some light on the possible answers to the question: If EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) is so fantastic why doesn’t everyone know about it?

To begin, I am going to assume that, to be asking this question, you have been subjected to a barrage of babble about a never-before-heard-of form of alternative healing and probably from someone with whom you found yourself engaged in conversation at some get together and found yourself drawn in by their sheer enthusiasm.

In my opinion the short answers are:

1   Because the general public has been so conditioned (read brainwashed) by Western Medicine into the belief that the only option available to us, if we become ill, is through Western medical intervention, that they have their heads firmly buried in the sand and are unable to consider the possibility that any other modality could have any benefit at all.

2   Alternative or Complementary Healing practices are widely regarded as la la, snake oil or witchcraft and which, for all but the desperate, such as those that Western medicine has been unable to help, are not an option deserving a second thought.

3   Many people shy away from anything that remotely resembles anything to do with the mind, emotions or psychology, after all, weren’t we taught to stop moaning and grin and bear it. Useful advice if illness is your goal.

4   Many people find it unbelievable that a single healing modality can be so effective in the treatment of so many different compromised health issues.

If your views fit any or all of the above you may want to read on.

Your first reaction to the realization that what is being discussed here is a form of alternative or complementary therapy may well be one of skepticism and this is good because after all, in today’s world where scams and con artists are common place, one needs to have a healthy portion of skepticism to survive.

You might think, for example, that alternative healing practices are a croc and you would likely be amongst the majority. At least, that’s the case here in Australia. But wait, are you aware that in the USA it is estimated that around 50% of people seeking assistance for compromised health conditions currently choose alternative healing practices over more traditional medical practices?

Think back to when you first heard about chiropractors or acupuncturists or hypnosis clinics and then reflect on just how long they have been around and to what extent they have been accepted into our mainstream health system here in Oz. My own chiropractor displays a board listing people who have referred new patients and guess what? About a quarter of the names on the board are General Medical Practitioners. (Medical Doctors)

The successful treatment of a number of common conditions through the use of acupuncture is well documented and becoming more accepted by medicos as well.

Take a look at a directory such as Natural Therapy Pages and it will be instantly apparent that there is a truckload of Complementary Healing disciplines all promising beneficial results for a variety illnesses. Many of these are based on ancient principals – some thousands of years old – well before the advent of so called “western medicine”. How is that they are still around? I’ll let you into a secret. They work!

Now consider when you first heard of Reiki. Is this where la la land begins for you? Guess what again. The use of Reiki is now encouraged in some larger medical facilities to aid in patient recovery and return to wellness. “Yeah but there isn’t any scientific proof that Reiki actually works” I hear you say – yet its encouragement in hospitals is a sure recognition that it has been recognized as beneficial even if it isn’t backed (yet) by science.

Now this is where the difficulty starts to rear its head. Western medicine and all its associated research and medicinal chemistry is aimed squarely at attempting to cure illness and disease after it is already established and this mostly involves either surgical procedures or doses of chemicals of one form or another administered in a variety of ways. In essence, Western medicine attempts to deal with the effects of illness.

Whilst I believe that there will always be a place for Western medicine, because of the billions of dollars turned over every day and the great many people who have a vested interest in its many facets, it is in their best interests to maintain its momentum.

From the perspective of the Western medicine fraternity, there is major value in maintaining closed ranks within the industry and consequently there prevails a culture of remaining behind a screen comprising of what is considered to be scientifically proven data to the exclusion of all else. Many elements within this same culture take a dim view of anyone within their ranks that elects to step outside the screen.

More recent science, however, is finding itself in a convergence with the principals that have been in use in certain Eastern countries for thousands of years and substantial evidence is being uncovered and scientifically proven that the state of our minds (thoughts, focused intent, emotions) has a powerful effect not only on the health of our bodies but on our very DNA.

If you need some convincing of this take a browse through “The Biology of Belief” by Bruce H. Lipton, PhD. and “The Devine Matrix” by Gregg Braden.

Ancient Eastern cultures have long known that subtle energies (Qi) flow along established pathways (meridians) within our bodies and any imbalance or restriction of these energies has an adverse affect on our bodies and if this affect is not addressed and resolved, sooner or later illness follows . In essence, Eastern methodology focuses on targeting the potential or root cause of illness.

Enter EFT. I’m not going to go into the background of the progression of people and events leading up to where EFT is today: if you want to explore this you can at: http://www.masteringeft.com/MeridianTappingTimes/May-18-09/NewletterContent051809.htm within EFT Master Patricia Carrington’s article “The Future of Meridian Tapping”.

I am however going to offer this: EFT falls within the arena of what is widely referred to as “Energy Psychology”.

With this in mind, your second reaction, having now had to take on board that emotions are involved as well as psychology is likely to chill any interest that you may have been beginning to take. But wait, I’m coming to the good bit.

EFT combines ancient healing principals with recently developed protocols (see the above article by Pat Carrington Ph.D.) to offer such a FANTASTIC healing modality for both mind and body that you can’t afford to bury your head in the sand and write it off for any reason. That’s why it is currently sweeping USA and UK.

Further, EFT offers a doorway through which one can embark on or further ones spiritual growth.

Take any illness or compromised health condition that comes to mind and do a search on the Main EFT site at www.eftuniverse.com for that illness, to see the success enjoyed by both Professional and lay users of EFT and you will begin to understand what drives the enthusiasm behind people using it on both themselves and others.

Have a good scan through the pages of the above website and take in the number of Professional medicos bravely stepping over the safety screen and embracing these techniques and ask yourself: why? Answer: …because not only do they work but the results of their application are PHENOMENAL.

So, don’t be the last to find out about the benefits that EFT offer. Rather, be one of the first to embrace something that is likely the most significant development in the arena of healing (emotional, mental, physical and spiritual) in your lifetime.

Don’t be deterred by the fact that the eighty page Manual describing the Basic EFT Recipe is FREE for anyone to download from the website and get started using it in the time it takes to read it. Neither succumb to skepticism at the claim by its developer Gary Craig that “EFT often works where nothing else has” but rather embrace the claim that EFT can be “tried on anything” and give it a go on yourself.

Notice that I said “on yourself”. How empowering is that for those of you who would rather suffer in silence than expose your emotional vulnerability to anyone else?

Try it for yourself and if you follow the manual instructions, whilst paying heed to any disclaimers designed to protect you from foolhardily going into doorways best left closed and you may well be the one at some future gathering voicing your enthusiasm.

Most importantly, don’t be the one with your head buried in the sand as you will certainly miss out on the best thing to happen to you in this lifetime.

Be prepared for miraculous results but if for any reason you don’t get them, before you are tempted to succumb to the old familiar mentality again, take the step over your screen and invest a very little of your time and money on a session with one of the Certified Practitioners listed on this site. I guarantee you will never bury your head in the sand again.
